Social programme

Sunday 4 July
Welcome cocktail

The welcome cocktail will be offered to all participants and will take place on Sunday 4 July at 19.30 at the Palagio di Parte Guelfa, the Florentine headquarters of the Guelf party in the terrible years of battles against the Ghibelline. The original building, which dates back to the 13th century, was modified through the years: Brunelleschi and Vasari participated to its remaking and the lunette on the door representing the Madonna with the Holy Child was produced by Luca della Robbia, the initiator of the dynasty of refined ceramists.
Tuesday 6 July
All-day excursion

Trekking or athletic shoes, shorts and casual clothing are required. Do not forget something warm to wear (sweatshirt or K-way) since the temperature is colder there. In the bottom of the gorge we will walk in the water: bring spare shoes and clothes. A helmet will be provided.

Lunch will be served at the Orrido di Botri Visitor Center at the end of the excursion. You may take with you some water and snacks for eating during the excursion.

The excursion is not recommended for pregnant women after the 7th month and under 6-year-old children. Animals of any size and species are not accepted.

In case of adverse weather, an alternative tour is planned to the neighbouring villages, which offer many interesting historical and artistic sights.

PLEASE NOTE THAT ADVANCE REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED: REGISTRATION FOR THE EXCURSION CLOSES ON 28TH JUNE THROUGH THE IWSM 2004 REGISTRATION FORM
